I finally found it to buy and I am putting it on a 04 tj wrangler. Want to be legal in all states. Would like to know what states say you need it and what states don’t.

Not sure about which States, but youíre doing the right thing. IMHO itís irresponsible not to have one in place, for everyone elseís safety.

Readystop Install

I just put one in last night on my 02 Wrangler. The most convenient place for me was to the bottom of the bumper, just in front of the drivers side base plate mount. This allows me to clip the break away thimble to the base plate and tie wrap the cable to the base plate mount to minimize the risk of accidental activation. The key to minimizing accidental activation is to eliminate any slack in the cable and secure it well, when not in use. I ran the cable through the driver's side frame to protect it. I entered the frame right behind the base plate mount and exited just before the firewall. There are lots of holes to choose from.
