Rear camera viewable in drive?

Is there any way to enable my rear view OEM camera to work while driving? I'd like to keep an eye on the toad.

Right now It only comes on when the transmission is in reverse

Strange, most rearview cameras are setup to work while you are driving. What does it do while you are driving. Does it still have power?

Since your monitor needs the reverse input to operate, you need to remove the monitor and see if it is getting power or just a contact closure to get the picture. If it is a contact closure, all you have to do is jumper the input and it will now work all the time. If it gets 12v from the reverse lights to operate, you will need to re-feed it with a 12v source.

If I turn my camera on it will stay on. Otherwise, it only comes on in reverse.

Try touching/tapping the screen and see if Rear Cam is an option
while driving. This is how mine works, I can select rear, left, or right.

Betting on this to make it work.

Sometimes I bump the button when I set the phone there. Try the on button

on your camera set up, it appears the triggering line was connected to reverse gear/reverse lights. if you re-connect it to the power source live when engine is on, you will have what you wanted.

CountryFit nailed it. It's powered by your backup lights, thus only powered when in reverse. To change that, you'll need to rewire the power source. That could be running lights or tail light, but you'll need to have your lights on for that. Alternatively, you'll need to find a source of 12v power active when your ignition is on, possibly running new wiring. If you power it from the coach's power, the camera will always be on and be a continual drain on your battery unless you install a switch.

Thanks for all the responses!
I believe I have enough information now to fix it.

X3, turn the switch to on and it should be on any time the ignition is on.

Idaho: Did you check the manual, should have one on a 2014 unit?

OP,

Check the rear of your monitor, Sometimes there are two ports for input. One is associated with reverse or with the turn signals. The other port is constant ON when powered up. JM2˘...

Wifey fixed it! There was a ON button that was really hard to see. The default mode was in place (on in reverse, left/right turn signal.)
