My KIA is 4wd, automatic. I drive in 2wd and then when I want to, I can stop and switch it to 4wd. It is not a manual or AWD.

That being said, is it still okay to pull it on a dolly if we disconnect the drive shaft as mentioned by mdpuff? My husband is thinking this just might work but when I call KIA dealerships in our area, we keep getting different answers with not much confidence behind them. Very discouraging. You'd think Kia dealerships would have sound answers.

Most dealership employees have little or no knowledge of rv'ing unless one of them actually does rv'ing. When we were searching for a toad, one of the first questions we asked, when at the dealership, was if the car could be towed 4-down. 9 out 10 would give me a dumb look and wouldn't have a clue.

Just to give you a little of my back ground I am a certified mechanic with over 40 years experience under my belt. (my belt has quite a bit to hold up lol) Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the Sorento is a rear wheel drive with front assist so pulling the rear drive shaft will not work. Only other choice would be to pull the front drive shaft then back it onto a dolly and tow it backwards. Depending on what type of dolly you have. If you have the dolly with the pivoting deck it will work, (towed a Corvette all the way back from Az to Alberta backwards and a Lexus SC430 all over the place backwards) just depends on how comfortable you are with towing a vehicle backwards on a dolly. If you have any questions about towing backwards don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck!
