Remco transmission pump problem
My tow vehicle is a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. This is a front wheel drive vehicle. In addition, it is a lowered floor minivan with a ramp for disabled access. In the spring of 2018, I had it modified with a baseplate, Air Force braking and a Remco pump to circulate fluid in the transmission, so I could tow it four wheels down.
This all worked beautifully on an extended trip in the fall/winter of 2018, as well as on two shorter trips early in 2019. However, in late April of this year under normal driving conditions the alarm for the pump began to sound intermittently.
I initially thought it was a connection problem with the cable that runs from the rear of the coach to the front of the towed van. I tried to snug the connections tighter, tape the male and female ends together, and other remedies. I also replaced the connecting cable with a brand-new one I purchased at Camping World.
All these solutions, at best, yielded temporary relief from this problem. When I got home I took the vehicles to the business who installed the equipment originally. They did various tests and replaced what they said were faulty items. Several test drives seem to indicate that all was fine. The RV sat idle for several months. I took both out on a trip early this past summer, after driving about 40 miles, the problem reoccurred and I had to abort the trip.
Since May, I’ve been back and forth to the installer, for tests and repairs on a number of occasions. Along the way most of the components have been replaced or thoroughly vetted. The installer has had repeated consultations with Remco.
After all this time and effort the problem persists and I have not used my RV in more than six months.
Hopefully someone who may have experienced something similar can offer some information on how this problem was or might be resolved?
Any information regarding this situations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you-Kelly D. Williams

We have a Remco pump on our 2012 Ford Escape, had it installed when we bought the vehicle new in June of 2012. We have towed it with three different motorhomes, probably about 50,000 miles or more.
About two years ago, one day while on a trip, the control device (the little box with the switch, located in the motorhome) began chirping intermittently ... the alarm that says the pump isn’t running. As I checked things at the pump, all seemed good. Then on down the road the chirping would sound again. Checked for leaks, bad wire connections, etc., with no defects found. Chirping continued intermittently, but then became almost steady, which is when I discovered the pump motor was really struggling to rotate properly.
Turns out the motor was going bad. Fortunately the actual gear drive pump section was okay, so no little plastic gear fragments being chunked into the transmission! Anyway, bought a new motor, swapped it out and all has been good since then.
By the way, shortly after that I bought a “spare” new motor ... just in case, travels with us ... you’ll be sad when you discover what they sell for!
Not sure if your problem is the same, but hope this helps.

I was going to get the remco setup for my Dakota Pickup, after seeing the prices I looked into pumps from Tilton Mfg. they make various pumps for race cars and such for much better prices. Just make sure you get one rated for continuous duty/

I'm having issues with the low pressure switch ; that sets off the alarm if it thinks the pump output is low .
Was the pressure switch one of the parts replaced??
