Removing fuse to tow to keep battery up
has anyone added a switch to the fuse that you have to remove on your toad to keep the battery charged while towing?? I have to remove a 5amp fuse every time and would like to just turn it off with a switch. Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

It depends on the car. My 2012 CR-V has a switch installed in the radio fuse socket. On to drive, off to tow. No battery problems.

I have a switch I highly recommend it.  You can lay a small solar battery maintainer in the window too, usually not necessary. My Patriot Brake plugs into my acc. plug but has it's own battery source.

I ran a charge line from the MH to the towed. Did that with the '5 Odyssey and now the CR-V.

I had on of these installed in my Malibu - two fuses need to be turned off when towing, just turn them "off" with one switch and ready to tow. Fuse Bypass Switches | Blue Ox
works great

It is much easier to connect up the charge line from the eight pin connector on the RV. Then you don't have to worry about fuses or switches plus you never have to worry about your toad braking system running the battery down.

It is called Fusemaster and works great. Even with the charge ine hooked up we had problems. Fusemaster solved them all..............

I used to have problems with the toad's battery draining until I added a charge wire to it's battery.
My RV came from the factory with an incomplete charge wire connected to the motorhome's battery/alternator through a 30/40 amp relay. When the motorhome running sends voltage through a charge cable.
The 8 gauge charge wire was incomplete. I guess was originally an option, with only the relay and 1/2 of the charge wire installed at the factory. I just added some more wire to the rear of the motorhome then built a plug-in cable for the toad.
From what I've read, some tow vehicles the radio and/or possibly an accessory fuse needs to be removed, as the toad ign. is required to be on to unlock the steering wheel while towing, draining the toad's battery.

Or, remove the steering wheel lock. That way, can tow with the ignition OFF, car locked.

Check Roadmaster for
the FuseMaster for your vehicle. Works great. The 2012 CRV is really hard to pull the fuse, tough location. This works!
1) A FuseMaster is not required for these vehicles but is offered for convenience.
2) If your owner's manual says to only pull the #19 ACC radio fuse, use part #76511. If it states to pull the #19 ACC radio fuse and the #20 ACC key lock fuse, use part #76512.
3) Some vehicles may not have the #17 ACC socket fuse. For these models, use two 76511s instead.
4) Owner's manuals for 2014 Honda CRVs may incorrectly identify the fuse in the schematic. See TSIB 151 for more information.

Many cars don't have a steering wheel lock, ours doesn't. But you can't remove the key until the vehicle is in park. Owner's manual says to leave key in ACC, place trans in neutral position and remove fuse. I did install a switch as removing the fuse was a pain.
