We pull an 08 Dodge 1500 4X4 with a 98 Alpine Coach. We use a roadmaster all terrain 10,000 lb tow bar that is 2yrs 10months old and has aprox 85000 miles. We pulled over a few days ago to find that the quick connect had completely broken on the pass side and was only secure with the safety cable. Our tow bar has also become very "loose". We have replaced all the parts on the truck and the quick disconnect with new ones and are sending the old ones back to roadmaster for examination . . . seems like a lot of money to get less than three years of service . . . what do yall think? http://www.irv2.com/forums/images/smilies/nonono.gif

85000 miles? Thats 7 years at the avg 12000 car miles a year.. 14 years for the avg RV miles... But ya, wouldnt think it would crap out like that.

Midnit....... The bar is 2yrs 10 months old.

2TALK42 By the quick connect do you mean the coupling that the pin slides through to hold fast?
Did the couple break at the swivel or did the pin fail?
Pretty unusual to hear of a failure on these bars.
Let us know what Roadmaster does.

The metal stalk that is attached to the pass side disconnect completely broke...Matt at roadmaster said they are interested in why it failed, so we will see. It appears to have rust where it had been cracked for a while but was not visible to the eye...I look at these about twice a week.

However, with 85 THOUSAND miles on it.... And, I agreed that it should not have failed like that...
