Roadmaster base plate to Blue Ox tow bar

getting ready to tow a dodge ram 1500. I'm using a combination of tow bars. face plate is roadmaster and tow bar is blue ox aventa II rated 10,000 lb. had to use different rod end adaptors on blue ox to fit the large pins on roadmaster face plate. looks to be a stronger set up due to the different pin sizes. blue ox using alot smaller size pins. i do hasve a blue ox faceplate and can put the clue ox ends back on but would like to get other peoples advice

Strength is the thing your looking for, especially in a heavy toad. Only thing I've noticed looking at baseplates and tow bars (I have Blue Ox baseplate and tow bar) is that Roadmaster seems to make many baseplates with no connection between the frame rails, putting a crossbar on the tow bar itself. Blue Ox baseplates all seem, like mine, to be a unified steel plate spanning the ends of both frame rails in the front. I'm sure you'll be fine with the larger pins in the set up you've got.

the roadmaster base plate i used is the roadmaster ms280-5. you have to totally remove the front bumber and plate mounts to same 4 holes that the bumber bolts to. also it came with two short 45 degree square steel tubing that mounts to vehicle frame. have to drill a few holes in to frame to mount the angle pieces. here is a youtube video of installation.

I use Roadmaster base plates and think they are just as heavy duty and possibly heavier than blue ox. I also have and use a Blue Ox 10,000 tow bar with the Roadmaster brackets with Roadmaster ends and can't see anything wrong with this set up.

Thxs glad to hear someone else has same set up. Never pulled my dodge ram before but getting ready to to fla for a month or two
