Roadmaster Invisibrake and F-150s (maybe others)

Just a word to the wise if you are considering the Roadmaster Invisibrake and you have adjustable brake pedals...when a different driver adjusts the brake pedals YOU MUST consider the tension that the Invisibrake has been set based upon the original position. If you don't you brakes may engage and your first indication will be smoke, then fire in the vicinity of the front disc brakes.

That made for an interesting day that no one mentioned when they were installed, at least on the F-150 that has adjustable brake pedals.

I have the Invisibrake system, but don't have adjustable pedals. I can definately see where that would be a problem. What amazes me is if you had it professionally installed, the tech wouldn't have noticed this and at least forewarned you.

Other folks with adjustable pedals needs to consider this, and either figure a way around the problem, or consider a different system.

Absolutely...I'll be talking to Camping World (who installed) and Roadmaster as I head to Florida next week to pick up my coach. It is unlikely it will be a pleasant discussion...I used snow to throw on the disc brakes to douse the flames. A couple hours later, and a lot of worry, I put it together what happened and I was pissed!!!

Both the Invisibrake installation instructions and owner's manual address brake pedal presets.

In the owner's manual, there is a warning in bold red across the top of page 2:

"For vehicles with brake pedal presets —
Make certain that the cable and brake pedal clamp assembly were installed with the brake pedal as close to the driver’s seat as possible. Make certain that the bra ke peda l is at that position
when towing . As an option, the brake pedal may be moved to the desired position and disabled. Do not rely on a mental note to never move the brake pedal.
Failure to follow these instructions may cause unintended braking and eventual brake failure, which may result in property damage, personal injury or even death."

That's why the discussion should be interesting with Camping World, the installer.
