As Triker56 says. I was at the Winnebago GNR this year and came back to the MH one day to see a guy messing with my tow bar. He was a Roadmaster technician cleaning and lubricating my tow bar. They drove all over the campground providing this service for free. I can say mine certainly worked easier after he finished the job.

I have sterling roadmaster tow bar. One side works fine, but the other will move a few inches and it takes a tap with a hammer to move the rest of the way. I ordered a new inner arm and am having problems removing the old one. After removing the part that attaches to the car, the directions shows just remove the existing by pulling it out the back. Mine moves about 3 inches and will not move even with tapping.

I take mine apart at least once s year and clean it.
Take the knuckle off. Than drive the inner bar out. Using a piece of wood or brass rod. Dismantling the bar and clean with silicone spray. No oil products. Some times a burr can form on end of tub where you slide bar in. Use s fine piece of emery to clean. Clean inside tub with silicone and rag.

Just had my Falcon 2 rebuilt at the Vancouver Wa. Factory last Thursday. $75 well spent. Never worked this easy. Also had their 1 1/2" additional Sway Bar installed on our Sprinter Chassis. What a difference it made. So easy to keep in the lane no matter what is passing by.

They used to do it for free, but at $75 it's still a good deal, and they still go to rallies and clean them for you. They'll leave a note on your door if they were there.

About twice a year I clean my Sterling bars with liberal amounts of WD40. I spray the heck out of it, run the arms back and forth while using paper towels to clean it.
Takes about 20 minutes of spraying and wiping.
I tried using silicone lube and it didn't work worth a hoot for me. We travel a lot and I disconnect almost every night while traveling so my bars get a lot of use.
Have done this for 10 years so I don't think the WD40 has ruined anything.
