+1 on the Ready Brute Elite (RBE)...used one on our old towed. You cannot go wrong with it for a lighter vehicle, but I'd be cautious on a heavier towed (it will certainly work, but on downhill engine braking I've had it activate a few times). I still have it in my garage as a backup (along with all the other stuff in my garage I can't seem to part with...the garage cleanout project is approaching soon).
On our new towed (2017 F-150) I decided to try a Blue Ox Avail. It's much heavier than the RBE, and several inches longer (which for me is a bonus when turning tight). I also did not want to drill any holes in my brand new vehicle except for the base plates. The other reason is that I wanted a supplemental braking system I could adjust on-the-fly from the MH front seat, and for that I used the
RViBrake3, and therefore did not need the built-in brake in the RBE
Of the two (RBE and Avail), they are both tow bars I'd recommend.
