To those who use the SMI Silent Partner braking system. (I think I know the answer)
My question is; do you have to use a wiring harness between the motorhome and the toad to indicate braking initiated from the motorhome?
(and)
Do the toad lights come on when the SMI Silent Partner initiates the brakes?
(and)
Does pulling the fuses prevent the toad's lights from coming on when the Silent Partner (or other braking systems) initiates braking?

I just want to make sure that I don't buy a brake light harness without having to. It looks like (from SMI's website schematic) that the smartbox and transmitter initiates the toads brake lights when the motorhome's brake lights come on. Am I all wet here?
I am currently thinking of buying a Saturn Vue and want to get all my ducks in a row. I know that Blue Ox makes a Saturn brake light harness.
Thank you kindly for all your answers to this post.

This one shows the "small plug" to the small plug,I actually have the 7 pin plug to the small plug,as it was just easier to use the existing plug on coach and not mount the extra one...
It's not listed on their site so you need to call them for part number...I never pull any fuses so someone else can answer that...I'm currently towing a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with an '06 Vectra...

As with all braking systems, unless some modifications are done, when the supplemental system operates the brake pedal of the toad, its brake lights will operate. The signal from the motor home should not operate the toad brake lights. The toad brake pedal, when depressed, sends a signal to the coach that the toad brakes are on with the SMI systems. That is the "cold" wire they (SMI) refer to in the install instructions. This is for the toad, they (SMI) also use the "cold" side of the coach brake light switch to send a signal to the toad along with the inertial signal to apply the toad brakes.

The SMI Silent Parter communicates in both directions by radio signal. You will need a wiring harness to (1) provide running lights on the toad and (2) provide brake lights on the toad for those stops where the toad brakes do not activate due to the sensitivy setting on the SMI brake controller (not all stops will activate the toad brake and therefore the toad brake lights).

Thank you all,
Very good input and I've learned a lot. Everything makes sence. Now all I have to do is get my toad. Other than the SMI Silent Partner, I'm going with Blue Ox all of the way around.
Again, thank you.
