GM makes other vehicles that are "cousins" to the Saturn models that are towable.

I will have to wait and see then; I get 10 plus years out of a vehicle. Don't know who will be around in 2016.

Unfortunately, we just bought a new-to-us 2005 Vue. When shopping, I was following the dinghy towing guides and considered Honda CR-Vs as well as Vues and several others. It so happened that a particularly low mileage Vue showed up in the middle of our search. If I had that decision to make again, however, I wouldn't go with the Saturn. I succumbed again to the "buy American" pressure.

We bought an SL-1 new in 1994. I've been less than pleased with it. It started burning a little oil at 75,000 miles and Saturn's response was "thats the way it is." The cruise control only works when it is cold, in spite of having been replaced under warranty. Like Mike, I expect 10 years plus out of all of our vehicles because I'm a maintenance fanatic. While I believe that all of the US car makers, especially Ford have improved initial quality, I'm not sure that their long term quality is on par with the Japanese auto makers. IMHO, the Big Three have had more than adequate time to deal with that issue. I've recently discovered that parts availability from Saturn is terrible. The fuel filter for our SL-1 is now available only from the factory and costs $70. Yes, I recognize that the vehicle is 14 years old but I felt the fuel filter was overpriced at $35 as it was a couple of years ago. I resent Saturn's attempt to return profitability by gouging me on parts.

I would expect for the Saturn brand to survive whatever happens at GM. I was disappointed when GM stopped treating them independently and "rolled them back in." My own company has spun off several money loosing divisions to independent ownership and every one of them has survived and become very profitable without our bloated mis-management system. I would hope the same for Saturn.

The whole story is the MSRP PLUS the shipment charges from the plant. It is what happens when you are the only game in town.

Just bought a new 2009 Saturn Vue and we love it. Much nicer than the CR-V. GM & Saturn will be around for a long time, although they are much in need of some restructuring.

There is an article in a past issue of USA Today regarding Saturn and GM. The article reports that GM will have to divest itself of Saturn regardless of the outcome.

There are suitors waiting in the wings, one being a Chinese company and there are others. Surgically cutting away Saturn from GM in my opinion isn't going to be easy and I don't think it can be done.

I recently visited my Saturn dealer in Florence, SC and they don't seem to believe that it will come to pass.

Even though the car is built in Mexico I still like the GM medallion on the front quarter panel

I heard that Saturn, Pontiac, and Hummer will be removed from the GM product line. GM wants to sell these models instead of just dropping them as they need the cash.

GM has talked about that option along with many other possibilities.

Some GM cars are lasting 10 years. Our 98 Venture Van has 100,000 driving miles and 30,000 towing miles. Our 99 cavalier had 60,000 driving miles and 60,000 towing miles when our grandson got it in September. The only downside to our new Vue 6 cyn is that it is only getting around 20 mile to the gal. The van gets 25.
