once the car is on the dolly and strapped in is necessary to put on crossed security chains?
There are two sets of security chains needed to safely tow a car with a dolly. (1)one set is fastened to the dolly and wraps around the front frame of the towed car, in case a strap comes loose or breaks. (2) the other set is the crossed chains at the hitch that is common to any tow applications. These are in case the hitch fails, and are crossed to cradle the falling tongue of the trailer. ( this happened to me once )

The nylon straps that go over the tire stretch. or the tire goes flat, the straps would be very loose and the car could fall off or shift on the dolly. The chains don't stretch and are SAFETY chains. It's just common sense to have things as secure as possible.
