Seeking "Real World" Experience with Ford Edge 4-Cylinder EcoBoost

I realize that Ford has nixed using the 2.0L 4-cylinder Edge EcoBoost as a toad but I own a 2012 Limited with that configuration and wonder if the "real world" experience with this engine/transmission has been that bad. There is nothing in the owners manual for this model to prohibit it but realize that Ford would likely deny any warranty claim notwithstanding the wording of the owners manual. If I trade it in on another model I am likly to suffer the same cost as replacing the transmission, or am I missing something?

Motor Home magazine publishes an annual list of dinghy towable vehicles. The current model year list is available at no cost. Lists for individual years back to 2000 are $1.99 each.

Also here if you are a member Towing Guides - towing four wheels down

I don't have the four cyl. . So this may be of no help. One I've towed my Edge with the six cyl. For three years now towing four down. Just remembering to start the engine at fuel and rest stops. No issues. Give REMCO Co. A call they make the transmission systems with lube pump enabling most vehicles to be towed. They will verify if your Edge is indeed towable and if not what their system will cost. It's not cheap, probably the same as a trailer dolly?
