I just installed all Blue Ox on an 07 HHR. Used bx 8848 for taillights. GM tech friend of mine found all wires under hood to connect without going under carpet. Have towed twice and it does very good. Using Blue Ox Patriot for toad brakes. I was in the same boat as you for a while but I decided Blue Ox was the best for me.

Did you buy aventa lx?
I was trying not to have a big box to have to store so I was looking at underhood and under dash models or wireless

We went with an SMI brake for our 2008 HHR. SUPER easy to use & does a great job. Would recommend it to all & worth the $$$.
Also went with a Roadmaster tow bar. We happened to find a barely used one on Craigslist for good price.
Installation was at Brazel's & they did an excellent job. You have to look really hard to see the brackets on the HHR.

I have 30,000 miles on my Blue Ox Aventa lx towing both Grand Cherokee and Ford Explorer. It's been the only tow bar I've ever had so don't have any comparisons but I like it.

Your post made me laugh Phil. I'm getting ready to set up my Jeep for towing and I'm in information overload too!! Good luck.

Blue Ox Aventa LX is Hard to beat..!!! 10K tow capacity, adjustable arms are easier to line up, and built like a BSH.
Air Force One or the Stay and Play, if you want a quality aux braking system. You can pay now, or you can pay later.
You asked for opinions, listen to the people who are suggesting what way to go.
Regards... Jim P.

Hi Phil,
I haven't picked out my tow bar yet but I'm going with Air Force One for my braking system. I looked at ReadyBrute... idk - it looks a little mickey mouse to me.
just my opinion
