SMI Air Force One
Our installer installed the SMI AF1 today...hooked up our 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with ADII...everything looks correct (umbilical cord, breakaway switch, air lines, etc) but the AF1 is not releasing the brake in the Jeep when we go to pull away.  Could it be a bad actuator or control unit??? The Jeep transmission is properly switched into neutral using the procedures in the user's manual and it rolls freely...we know that because we can roll it back and forth and the transmission never kicks into gear if we place it in R or D. Any ideas iRV2 friends; could we be overlooking something???

We had a friend report on another forum the same symptoms and it turned out that the installer who did his incorrectly hooked up the AF1 air supply to the coach spring brake air supply which is unmetered and at the full air system pressure.
Call SMI and ask for Logan - he is great for troubleshooting installations.

Only way brakes can be on from air is if the plumbing is hooked up wrong in the Mh. Feel of the cable going to the firewall from the actuator, if it's tight he either hooked it up too tight or if you've got adjustable pedals he didn't run them all the way out when he hooked up the cable and now they're extended pulling the cable tight. The cable should be slightly slack anytime the brakes aren't on.

Agree that if plug is in the breakaway switch, there must be a problem with either the air connection or some other installation snafu.
Did the installer check the installation? The coach and toad need to be in the same place after the install to make sure everything works as desired.

You dont have to move the vehicle to know if it works, just watch the actuator.
Disconnect the air unbilical and the actuator should release.
There is a storage tank in the AF1 box which builds pressure by activating the coach brakes several times. This is used by the breakaway function to apply the brakes.
So with the tank empty, and unbilical DISCONNECTED, the actuator should be released and the cable slack.
Side note, make sure the automatic parking break setting is OFF.
If you can put a pressure gauge on the coach side air connectir, you should see zero psi until you apply the coach brakes.
If your saying something us wrong just beacuse it wont move, check that darn parking break. It can come on just by opening the door if the settings are on auto.

If they only come on when you plug in the air the lines are hooked up wrong on the Mh. Like I said earlier you have one of two problems if the breakaway plug is in.
1. Either the Mh is supplying air to the toad when it shouldn't be I.e. Lines crossed. OR
2. The cable is too tight pulling the pedal down.
A couple of years ago the installer crossed the lines on my Mh. When I released the Mh brakes the toad brakes would come on and vise versa. Hooked lines up correctly and it was fine.
You didn't say if they also installed the Mh side of the Airforce one.
