I did a quick check, and didn't find any postings where members had mentioned the cost they paid to have the SMI AFO system installed in their toad....might have been there, but I couldn't find it.

I'm planning to have the SMI system installed in an 08 Jeep Liberty, and have gotten a labor estimate of 4 hours. I didn't know if this was reasonable or not, so I thought I'd ask. I found the unit for $899 w/shipping....anyone found cheaper?

Thanks

Four hours sounds reasonable. It took me and my inexperience about 8 hours to install it on my Tacoma. $899 is a good price and I think that is what I paid a few months ago.

I paid $350 for the Air Force One install on my Journey/Ford Explorer. However, that was a special rally price and the install was done by SMI staff at the rally. I'd say the tech spent about 4 hours doing the install on the Explorer.

I had SMI install the toad side on my '06 Jeep Liberty done at their facility in Evansville in October last year. The labor to install was $250.

In November I had them install the coach side and it was $100 for labor. I had already mounted the electrical connector and air connection on the coach prior to having them finish the install.

Four hours on the TOAD, 2+ hours on the MH. Total was around $600 (don't quote me on the price, I was mistaken once before.) That was just installation. I ordered the kit directly from the AF1 web site.

At the FMCA Rally in Madison, WI, I called the troops in on an Air Force One install and 4 guys showed up and installed the system in hardly no time at all.

I'll let the new system owner follow up with his experiences with the AF1.

Thanks for your response. Makes sense now. I didn't know it had been available that long ago. Still happy with it. I'm not far from you in Sonora and I can get it here from a local dealer. Did you do your own install? BP
