SMI brake package

Hello: we are looking at an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with an 06 SMI brake. Is SMI still in business? Tried to find a download for an owners manual and ended up with Demco and no source for a manual. Any comments as to reliability for this package or other suggestions. Thank you.

I just changed from a Brake Buddy to the AF1 so they are still in business. Contact one of their retailers and ask them about getting the manual.

They are now owned by Demco. They make the Stay-in-Play and the Air Force One. I have had the Stay-in-Play for about 10 years and it is a great system.

SMI brake package

X2 on the stay and play system. Works well and nothing to do but flip the switch on when heading out.

Yes, now owned by Demco. At least as of last year as our system came in a Demco box.

Our installer ran the light for activation up to the dash of the coach also. Easier to see than looking in backup camera to see if they are activated.

Thank you for your comments.
I contacted Demco and gave them the model number of the SMI unit. They said there are no parts available if anything fails on models of the Stay IN Play that were manufactured by SMI prior to the acquisition by Demco. They did say, however, that their current version of the Stay-IN-Play, Duo, is available for $1219 and is a better and more simplified unit. Of course.

Hmmm...that kinda sucks for an answer from Demco; they buy the business and then abandon previous owners, albeit a 13 year old product (if its still working, that's good to know)

I have a new Stay and Play Duo, I will say this they do have excellent support for the new product. That's why it's kinda of surprise they are hanging you out to dry.
