We were enroute to a family reunion in Ohio from our home in south Florida when on a rural two lane road the vehicle in front ( some distance away ) suddenly skidded to a stop in order to turn into a driveway... Had we not had the brakeing assistance provided by the SMI unit we would surely been involved in a tragic accident as there was no escape route available... Our two month old grandson also thanks SMI ... well spent insurance

Glad to hear we could help! I can't count how many people who have talked to me after an accident where they stopped just a couple of feet short. Those few feet can turn a tragic (or fatal) accident into a mere "hair-raising" experience. Towing without brakes WILL increase your stopping distance; and remember, every foot is important. No one can argue that.

Supplemental braking systems are like insurance, a total waste of money until you need it.

Then it's invaluable.

We have used our SMI Silent Partner for over 20,000 tow miles including a trip to Alaska and we have had flawless performance with it. It is a great peace of mind to have a toad braking system (our Jeep usually weighs in at around 4,400 pounds) and we couldn't be happier with our choice.

Very well put. Although not everyone who has purchased a towed-braking system has actually "needed" it (aside from relieving stress on critical points on the hitch, tow bar, and coach's brakes), there is no telling how many lives have spared from their use.

There is also the peace of mind and comfort from knowing you have taken the proper safety measures.
