Question SMI Stay-IN-Play Duo on Ford Focus

Has anybody out there put the SMI Stay-IN-Play Duo brake system in a late model Ford Focus?

I have the system on an 09 Ford Explorer, works great.
Simple to use, just flip the on switch, and go. Installed
it myself. You need to be good DIY person to do it.

Thumbs down

Thanks for the quick & positive reply.

Two questions I'm sure are answerable: (1) what are the dimensions of the operating unit under the hood? (2) does it have to be mounted flat (screwed to a horizontal surface)? I'm wondering where to mount it in the Focus.

I also have looked at the brake pedal in my Ford Focus and the space for the actuator above my toes looks pretty skimpy. To mount the controller, the typical area left of the driver's feet is sort of taken up already with the hood release; I'm thinking it'd have to go on the passenger side of the center console? And, of course, there is the electricity problem--I already have a negative battery switch and I am in for some extra wiring problems to operate the SMI Stay-IN-Play Duo.

Does anyone have this brake system in a 2012, 2013, or 2014 Ford Focus?

Call SMI, they will either know the answers, or they will go
to a Ford dealer and look the vehicle over and guide you.
They did this for me on my 09 Explorer.

Smile

Already have exchanged 1 email with them & have another 1 with more specific questions awaiting their response. Will save phone calls for when I'm tangled in wiring under the hood!

Exclamation SMI Brake Install Complete in 2014 Ford Focus

To update this thread, I have prepared a 4-page document describing the things I learned en route while installing an SMI Stay-IN-Play Duo braking system in my 2014 Ford Focus Titanium Hatchback with 6-speed automatic transmission. It includes pictures of some key details and notes on taillight installation, baseplate installation, and the battery disconnect situation. Unable to upload this pdf file to the Files area here, I invite you to PM me or email me at hdmoxness@hotmail.com and I will send you a copy.

Best regards,
Dean
