Spare tire for tow dolly

How many of you carry a spare tire for your tow dolly? I have always carried a spare for my trailers but never needed them and they are usually in the way and add weight. Ready to buy a tow dolly and trying to decide if I buy and carry a spare tire.

Thanks in advance for your input.

A flat tire can ruin your day , waiting 4 hours for roadside assistance , or unloading the toad and driving for hours to find a tire, when you could change it in 20 mins., if you had a spare, just makes things worse.

If you're capable of changing the tire, carry a spare.

We carry the spare. I guess it is a fear of Mr. Murphy and his law.

Dolly tires are not like the RV's tires and could fail with a nail or screw, so it is just a safety margin.

Safe travels

Ruddog,
I carry a mounted spare for my acme ez tow. it is an unusual size and would be hard to find while traveling. I carry a small hyd jack too. a scissor jack might work better.
I had a blowout on a stehl dolly at crater lake NP. without a spare, I would have been in big trouble.

spare tire

We too carry a spare for the tow dolly, also picked a scissor jack from junk yard for 7 bucks to lift dolly in case of flat-One thing alot of people don't take into consideration is with a dolly ,getting a flat may tear up the tire rim & fender it is cheap to replace compared to pulling four down, I helped a fellow who must have driven quite a few miles with a flat on his car and it did lots of damage, he said he taught people passing him where just waving and being friendly--DAHH !!!

I'm ordering the spare tire with the tow dolly. Thanks for reminding me to always be prepared.
Good advise.

I guarantee you will NEVER need the spare tire, (drum roll) as long as you have one.

The Acme dolly uses an unusual size tire. Its small enough that I can keep it in one of the storage bays on my Mirada.

Carry the spare from my ACME in the basement, it is small and doesn't take a lot of room. Torque wrench for checking lugnut/changing tires and a scissors jack for the dolly or pushing up a stubborn jack should that occur.

rented a truck and a dolly to move. no camera so I did not see the tire on the dolly go but it took the fender with it. 5hrs later the company delivered another dolly on a flatbed so they could recover the old dolly. Spare would have put us back on the road but without a taillight. I carry a spare and lug wrench in the toads trunk when I use our dolly.

See picture from last weekend. 400 miles from home. Think I'm glad I had a spare?

I don't carry a spare for the MH, don't carry one for the dolly (when I use it and it's been several years since I did), but do have one in the towed.
