We are super Newbies about to take out our new to us 2014 Itasca Sunstar. Our toad is a 2006 HHR. I was wondering if any other members who use an HHR as their toad have driven any faster than the recommended 65mph. I am not planning to do so, but if I get up to 70 or 75 to pass, will this ruin the car?

I doubt if the additional few MPH will build up friction heat any faster than sticking to Chevy's lawyer's CYA caution in the owner's manual.

Going faster than 65 mph will reduce your wallet in added fuel costs, but shouldn't hurt the toad. Relax and enjoy the scenery!

I tow a 2008 HHR SS and have on several occasions been 70-75 for brief periods passing and it has never seemed to have an adverse effect on the car.

Our Ford Flex says the same but apparently it has not hurt it,

I tow a HHR and rarely go over 65mph, however the Dingy Tow Guide for 2006 states:

Model Base Curb Speed/Distance Towable with Towable with Mileage Approx.

HHR 3,155 None Yes Yes 22/27 $15,400 - $16,400

Thanks to each and everyone for your help!

Now I'm wondering in I could just travel at 70 on a good and flat road surface. If I'm pushing it either on the toad, or safetywise on the MH, pls feel free to educate me. Our maiden voyage is tomorrow for "two whole days!!!!!"
