Any ideas on how to stabilize a slightly shaky 2" ball mount/receiver connection? Can you shim the slight gap between the ball mount and the reciever, and if so what should I use a a shim that will not get crushed? Thanks.

Maybe something like this would work:

It is a Blue Ox Immobilizer III and is usually used to keep motorhome mound towbars from wiggling too much. They have a few different models, (the Immobilizer and Immobilizer II) that may work for your application also. I've been meaning to get a couple of these to stop our towbar wiggle but haven't gotten around to it!

i use 2 roadmaster hitch immobilizers. i do not recommend them. they are a poor design as they put the weight of the hitch load on the tensioning bolt. i modified mine to be able to turn them sideways but there are better choices available for about the same price.

Blue Ox Drop Receivers
