A friend tows a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 2WD, auto tranny using a lube pump. His problem is the miles keep rolling on the odometer when he tows. Anyone have a suggestions on how to stop this?

Thanks

It is against the law to disconnect the odometer.

Does the owners manual address this---I thought Cherokees were towable 4 down but perhaps 2 wheel drive is the difference. Some vehicles suggest a fuse to be removed---at least one person has said to me it was for the odometer. True/false????

Mine does not accumulate but I do keep a log of miles towed as a hedge just in case I had to make a warranty claim. If your friend had such a log in the future he could substantiate towed vs driven miles----not comforting but a thought.

There is the old remove the drive shaft gambit.

It certianly sounds like he wired the lube pump into the fuse box and has the key switch in the run position with a wire from the RV charging the battery. ?? am i right on this ?
Here is how to fix. unhook the wire that powers the lube pump from the Grand and wire it to the RV.
THen turn the key back one notch to the one positon in between off and run it is there just look for it. that should turn off the Odo.
