Does anyone using the StowMaster 5000 tow bar have any problems with leaving it on the front of the toad. Does the extra weight seem to affect driving your toad? We have received one from a retired RVer and now would like to put it to use along with our EvenBrake 9400.

I had a heavy Stowmaster on the front of my 1991 Honda for about 9 years and left it on for long periods. Did not notice any difference with it on or off. Honda weighed 3000 pounds.

We have one on our '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I can't tell any difference with it on there. When not traveling, I generally take it off (just two key pins) to keep it from being stolen.

Have had one on successive taods for 11 years of full-timing (all Subaru Foresters). Never take it off - locked on. Covers wear out after a few years though.

I've used a 5000 with 3 different MH's and 3 different cars (Geo, Jeep GC, and a CRV). Works well on all. I leave it on if I'm just a day or two, but remove it when staying a while in any location.
I have it locked onto the car with padlocks instead of the two pins...believe it or not, there are some thieves out there!!

Glad to see I will not be alone using the 5000. There seems to be no apparent problems with the unit other than possible theft which can handle. Thanks all for the informative input.

I have had one since 1998 and have used it on 3 cars with no problems. I do remove it when home for long periods of time which is not very often now that I am retired.

I have used a Stowmaster 5000 on 3 tow vehicles, 1991 Dodge Colt 200 std., 2002 Saturn SC2 and a 2007 Saturn ION. The two Saturns are still in use.
Should you ever find yourself in the Portland OR./Vancouver WA. area you may wish to take your "toad" with it's Stowmaster 5000 towbar to the Roadmaster factory where they will give it a complete overhaul free of charge.
The factory is now located in the east side of Vancouver, WA. Take the "500" off the I-5/I-405 to N.E. Fourth Plains Blvd. go east to 127th. Ave. and turn right, factory is about 1/2 mile on your right.
