I checked out Sandpiper's advice and indeed, there is one notch further counter clockwise. This position is not described in the owner's manual. This position unlocks the steering wheel and appears to turn off all devices. Unforatunately, it eliminates the power to the DC socket that powers the BrakeBuddy.
I towed the car this past week on a 7 day trip of about 1200 miles with the key in the access position and used a ToadCharger which seems to have eliminated the problem with discharging the battery.
