Picked up my new 2015 Subaru Forester (manual) yesterday. Now having a problem with trying to find a base plate. Dealer says that the 2014 is the same as the 2015??
Does anyone know if a 2014 base plate will fit on a 2015 model?
I have talked to Subaru and Blue Ox and no one will give me a straight answer.

Anyone towing a 2015 Forester with a Blue Ox base plate?

Gary

Thanks John.
I was surprised that no one will will commit that the 2015 is the same as 2024!!!
I will order 2014 base plate tomorrow and will find out if it fits the hard way.
Had a Jeep Wrangler as a toad but the "Old Body" was finding it tough on the body.

i ALMOST bought that same car to tow, but enjoyed the 12,000 dollar savings picking up a 2010 outback.

Should tow great regardless!

You might contact Blue Ox and offer to be a 'test' to be sure the '14 base plate will fit your '15. They might make an offer you can't refuse. It would mean a trip to eastern Nebraska, but might be worth the field trip.

Recently purchased a 2015 Subaru Forester (manual) and could not find a 2015 Blue Ox baseplate. Did some digging and decided that a 2014 baseplate should fit a 2015.
Had a 2014 Blue Ox baseplate installed on my 2015 Subaru Forester today without any problem.

2015 Forester B Ox baseplate

Thanks Gary,

I'm still waiting to hear from B Ox as they said 90% sure and will get back to me. My installer won't do job unless Subaru ok's plate. Do you know if any modifications were needed? Have you used it yet?

Thanks again for the post,

I talked to the installer and he indicated that the job went well. His only comment was that Blue Ox typically require some new hole drilling to get base plate to bolt onto frame. The base plate looks good. No I have not used it yet but do not expect any problems. I am now trying to get Even Brake system hooked up!! Finding a way to get wiring through the firewall looks like a bit of a challenge. I am doing this.

This is the response I got from Subaru Customer Service re my question as to whether there was any structural differences between the 2014 and 2015 Forester.

"Thank you for contacting Subaru Canada, Inc. we regret the delay in our response.

In response to your request, please be advised that, the 2014 and 2015 Subaru Forester are the same basic car. In fact, the only real differences are equipment levels if at all.

We trust that this information is helpful."

Subaru Customer Service.

Hope all goes well with your install.

Recently purchased 2015 Subaru Forester 6 speed manual (same as 2014) and just completed first trip with it in tow. Towed very well - no problems.
Previous tow vechicle was a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited.

Gary, curious as to what braking system you use. Dealer recommends Pilot, we're leaning towards Invisibrake?

Glad to hear you had a Successful trip.

John

My breaking system is the Roadmaster Even Brake. The main reason is we had gas RV's up until the current one which is Diesel with air brakes. The good thing is that we have used the even brake on three toads. Now that we have air brakes I would prefer to have a system which is tied directly to the Motor home braking system. The even bake system is a bit of a pain the put in and take out but works!!
Good luck in choosing your system.

I a. Towing a Subaru Outback with an RVi 2 with my ford e450. I understand the rvi can work with air brakes. I find it easy to use And have it set for hard and emergency braking.
