Jeep Cherokees are a dime a dozen and can be flat towed.

We have a 2009 Honda Fit perfect for flat towing and is light weight. Just run it through the gears put in drive for 5 seconds then to neutral..let engine run for 3 minutes then put key in accessories position. Check lights and take off. (We do put a solar charger to it while traveling so the battery doesn't die).

2012 Honda Fit here. Did my own baseplate install. It was relatively straightforward. No cutting or welding needed.

I tow a 2001 Saturn SC2, you can get one under $3K and they run forever, weigh nothing and are a kick to drive.
