Just found out something disturbing today on my 'kick, When the transfer case is in neutral, it locks both the front and rear drive shafts together! So now I'm dragging two sets of ring and pinions along. Not good for gas mileage, I already put manual locking hubs on it because I heard the automatics may lock up going down the road. If both driveshafts are turning, then they definetly will lock. If the newer transfer cases (automatic) do this be sure to check the front axle disconnect solenoid or vacuum motor is working as if it is stuck in the locked position, it would be like towing in four wheel high which on dry pavement can do some major damage to the axle and transfer case.
