Suzuki tow

OK I have been thru the forums and cannot find the info. I am looking at an 03 susuki 2 wheel drive. It is a 5 speed. Can it be towed? What about the rear pump? Its really a neat little car.

Check the owners manual. We had a 1999 Susuki Grand Vitara and it was quite specific on what to do, including which fuse to pull.

I have a 03 XL-7, 4 wheel drive Suzuki. Can't be sure about 2 wheel drive. All I do is put transfer case in neutral and turn ignition key to accessory. That unlocks the steering wheel. All in all, it is a great tow. Have driven mine 96,000 miles and towed it a additional 150,000. Runs like new.

More info: Mine is automatic and put it in park after transfer case is in neutral. Hand brake off.

Is this a Vitara, Grand Vitara or an Aerio? I think the rear drive manual tranny is towable - the rear pump is generally a concern only on automatics. Front drive (Aerio) 2WD stick is another matter - some have a lube pump just like an automatic. I'm not saying the Suzuki Aerio does, but I don't know that it doesn't either.

The front wheel drive Aero S/GS and SX can be towed in the manual trans according to FMCA 03 tow guide but it's the only manual trans Suzuki shown approved for towing.

Didn't spot a manual for an 03 but the 06 says that the 2 wheel drive must have the rear wheels on a Dolly.
Suzuki 2006 Grand Vitara Manual (Page 195 of 279)

The 4 wheel drive versions make a great toad. Light, maneuverable, and with low range will crawl around anywhere. We had a 99 for some time.
