Tesla Model X

Anyone figure out if the new Tesla Model X is towable four down? Quite the interesting car. An all electric (meaning NO gas motor). Pricey ($130k) but I love the features and the performance. Not too many other SUV's will run 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds! Wonder too if it could charge off of the coach system? Probably not 12v but maybe off of the genset. Guess that defeats the purpose of a fossil fuel free vehicle if you have to burn diesel to charge the batteries.

And when will the RV makers bring this technology to motorhomes. The car has 500hp and a range of 285 miles. A motorhome could have two or three times the batteries and you plug in at a campground virtually every night anyway. The torque developed by dc electric motors is well above that of a diesel motor. We might see a 42', 40,000 pound motorhome do a 0 to 60 in 5 seconds!!!!

I'll take a new all electric coach and tow a Tesla. What a package!

Teslas are not flat towable.

An electric motor home doesn't make sense. Electric vehicles are only good around urban areas, which is not where I want to camp.

None of the Tesla models can be flat towed. You would have to use a trailer. You could easily charge the Model X (or S for that matter) from the campground outlet - either the 50amp, 30 amp or even the 20 amp outlet. It all depends how fast you want to replenish the battery.

Tesla's internal charger would not work with a generator. The power output is not constant enough - the Tesla would go into fault mode.

Teslas are by no means "urban only" vehicles. With an almost 270 mile radius you could do a lot of exploring in one day.

We own a 3.5 year old Tesla Model S and it is by far the best car we've ever driven - hands down. With Tesla's Supercharger network you can take a Tesla almost anywhere in the US.

0-60 in 2.9 seconds, what will we all do with all the extra time on our hands?
