This was the picture I took after I unhooked the tow bar arms from the Jeep. The left side arm is about 3" bent lower than the right side. This must have occurred when the ball joint twisted to the left. With the tow arms still locked out the pressure from the toad pushing forward while braking must have bent the arm. It was nice to see that the arm of the tow bar did not fail, and while sustaining damage still held onto the toad.

I would not be concerned about Blue Ox warranty policy or an deviousness on their part - they have an exemplary record of providing free replacements under all sorts of conditions and no matter how old the towbar is.

I think it was covered in another thread George, but in a nut shell, Blue OX sent me a new Aladdin tow bar, and I returned shipped the Alexus tow bar within hours. I waited for quite a while and never heard a word from them. I can only surmize that they couldn't figure out the cause of the failure either, or they just didn't want to share the information. Either way the new tow bar is working as expected, and no issues have arisen to cause any concern with the new tow bar. I am keeping my fingers crossed. However, as I write this I just came back form a 2 week, 1000 mile trip up the west side of the Sierra mountians, and everything performed perfectly.

It's working great. Easy hook up, no electrical parts to fail, and only supplies braking when I brake. I love it!

Sarge, as you know you and I used to have very identical setups...I was using the "Ready Brake" and the same towbar.
I am still using the towbar, but found that the Ready Brake was causing undue (and unnoticed) "wear" on my front brakes...
I would sometimes detect an odor from the brakes after stopping and when I was at the Newmar International Rally I discussed this with Pete from SMI.
He took me out to my rig/toad and inspected the setup and showed me the wear on the brakes...

I now use the Air Force One from SMI which is a proportional braking system.

Be careful out there and be aware of what you've got....

Thanks for the heads up Bob, I will keep an eye open for any unusual wear. So far I haven't noticed any excessive smell or handling. How heavy is your toad? The Wrangler is running about 3200 pounds, and my 32' rig is about 22K loaded. All together I am between 25k and 26k GCVW. I am rated for 38K max GCWR. Maybe that's why I have not noted any issues yet.

The Hummer H3 weighs about 4700 pounds and my coach weighs 51500...

Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

Wow, you have a little more weight on those front pad than I do!! Does your chassis use drum or disk on the front brakes??

I like the idea of the easy install and simple operation. Is there enough pressure from the surge to get the braking system to stop you in a emergency panic stop.
Is the cable set up just run thru the motor compartment thru the fire wall and fastend around the brake pedal arm. Seems EASY!!

Yeah that's pretty much it. You can adjust how much brake you want by how tight you adjust the pull cable. You make it tight it would lock the tires on a hard brake. It's all up to you, and no electronics to fail.
