I would look at Jeeps because there are a number of them that can be flat-towed without a lot of modifications or fancy oil recirculating systems. All I have to do on mine is hook up the brake assist and take the transmission out of gear using a small button on the shifter assembly.

The standard shift Kia Soul is light and still may be flat towable.

UGH - I bought a new grand am in 1992 and had the worst experience with it. Probably would have qualified as a lemon so I have shied away from them.

The ford fiesta with automatic transmission is about 2600# and can be flat towed. I towed a 2014 and didn't feel it most of the time.

2015 and newer CR-V's are not towable four down due to the CVT transmission they now use. I'm about the replace my '05 Odyssey with a 2014 CR-V that a friend is selling.

Remco will tell you about what cars are towable or how to make them towable.
