Toad Braking system
Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to determine the best toad braking system... we have a brake buddy and it always seems to blow fuses... thinking about invisibrake.. we have a 2011 40 ft Holiday Ramble Neptune. Any thoughts.

Many Thanks Ranger Smith... does the invisibrake go on when you are using the exhaust brake on your coach?

Consider the Air Force One. I've had one over 5 years and had the same one on 2 coaches and 3 toads. I put it on in a campground in Valdez, AK after my Blue Ox failed for the 4th time. Swapped it to my Bus in another CG in Tucson after we bought the bus new. Only problem I've had is that the cable on the actuation cylinder failed after over 100,000 tow miles. Sent it to AF1 and they returned it repaired in less than 10 days for less than $30. It simply doesn't get any better than that.

SMI makes an out of sight out of mind auxiliary braking system. The system will only begin working once you plug the vehicle into the back of the motorhome.
I have a Stay-and-Play DUO which shares technology with the Air Force One. AF1 is designed specifically for vehicles with air brakes and is the only auxiliary air brake system that carries a DOT certification.
I had every variant of the BrakeBUDDY beginning with the Dan Decker version #1. In my experience any auxiliary braking system that is temporarily installed on the floor of a vehicle has inherent deficiencies namely it has to be plugged in, setup and calibrated. In my opinion it's too much like work.
An SMI is simply a plug and go system and it never gets in the way especially when it's pouring outside and you absolutely have to unhook and move the vehicles. That feature alone ... priceless.

Only goes on when you apply the pedal. Won't go on with just exhaust brake.

Google the subject in iRV2 for several days reading...You'll note that recommendations for specific units come from those that own (spent their money for) that unit.

There are many good systems, When next I get a towed I plan on looking into the Ready Brake, I mean talk about KISS.. On the other hand I liked the degree of control I had with the US gear Decelerator..
Invisible brake has the advnatage of there basically is no hook up when you tow, Just plug in your tow lights..(Optionally a single wire connector as well) Not sure how I like it otherwise.
Air Force one you plug in an air line. That's all.
M&G if your towed can take it, See Air Force One.
The "Box systems" like Brake buddy I do not like, Too much work to re-install them every tow and remove them between tows. Good though if you change towed's often.

I have used brake pro. and got tired of the hassle. Also when hitting bumps it would apply toads brakes. I have a 2010 bus and went with a M&G air brake system that I love. Simple and quick to connect . The best!
