Toad. how heavy is too heavy
I have a 2018 Winnebago View and I'm looking at a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk for my toad. it weighs 4677 pounds. towing capacity on the view is 5000 am I going to regret having such a heavy vehicle behind my view?

Depends on where you drive most of the time. If in the mountains all the time, then you will be slower climbing hills. If coastal or mid west, then May be not too bad. I tow a car trailer with a Falcon on it and I'm under 5000 lbs.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
As Deuce said, you will be fine but you won't win any races in the mountains! Keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

There's a bunch of variables the biggest is I don't think a View being built on a Sprinter chassis has the capacity to tow that much unless you load the coach very lightly. The hitch might be 5K but you might not have the available capacity with the chassis.

If there's enough weight capacity it's going to slow down in the hills, let alone the mountains.

You have about 4600 lbs of towing capacity when loaded to the GVWR. Your Trailhawk is right at the maximum or slightly over. The Sprinter is tougher than it looks but I wouldn't tow it - maybe the lightest Wrangler you could find.
You are going to feel the weight in both acceleration and fuel mileage. Make sure you equip the Trailhawk with a good braking system. RVi 3 would be the one I recommend.

We have a 2017 FR Sunseeker MBS 2400R and tow a 2008 2 Dr JK Sahara. Toad limit is about 4200 pound for our rig. Once we got everything together and the rig loaded the way we travel, we cam in just under the weight limit when checked at weight scales. As others have said, you are not going to win any races going over passes, but the unit will get the job done. We were over the continental divide many times this summer in Wy, Co, Mt plus climbs in Ut and Id. We passed vehicles and were passed by vehicles on grades, but you have to go into the unit expecting that to be the case. If you already have the Jeep setup to tow, take the entire setup and weigh it and then check agains specs for the View and see where you fall into.

Regret it? No, but that doesn't mean that a lighter toad might not be a bit more enjoyable from the perspective of fuel economy, hill climbing performance, etc. But not enough difference to make you "regret" it if the Trailhawk is what you really want.

Every Sprinter chassis, no matter who converts it, has a GVWR of 11,050#, and a GCVW of 15,250#. Yes, the Navions have a hitch rated for 5k, but if you are at max. GVWR (most Sprinter based B+ rigs run at pretty much max. with occupants and cargo/water/etc.), then you only have 4200# towing until you max out at GCVW. Remember to factor in the weight of whatever tow bar/braking system you intend to use, too. ST
