Most newer vehicles with electronic odometers do not add mileage while <STRIKE>towing</STRIKE> being towed.

thank you, then I would assume if I found a
used car to buy that was used primarily as
a toad, then it would be a pretty good bargain.

Had a '93 and '01 Saturn. Now own a HHR. None of them register mileage when being towed.

Just because it doesn't register mileage doesn't mean there isn't wear.

Thanks Paz for clarifying that, I was thinking
that in the back of my mind also because the
wheels are still turning all those miles.

Some vehicles DO rack up miles while being towed. I had a Geo Tracker that did. Its twin (Suzuki Samurai) also racked up miles.

From a wear perspective, mine was probably towed as far as it was driven. Things like wheel bearings and steering gear and driveshaft/u-joints and the back half of the transfer case had some wear from being towed.

The tires showed minimal wear, still had the original tires after 80K+. This was surprising.
