toad and open trailer

thanks to all for your comments.. gave us something to think about...backing up w/trailer seems to be some advantage in tight spots vs 4 down.. have commercial class A license so backing is not a problem....

After two years with a tow dolly, I switched to 4 down with my 2006 Chevy Malibu and have not looked back. It's no convenience to tow a trailer.

Sorry to hear this. Aluminum car trailers hold their value very well. I keep ours well secured at all times and have it insured under one of our car policies.

We have a 24' Cargo trailer we pull with the car and motorcycles but it is overkill to just haul the car. I don't like the dolly for several reasons and the price was way overkill. My decision was to custom build a trailer for the Echo. As short and low as possible. I priced the parts and built it myself for 950 bucks. I used a 3400 lb Flexiride Torsion Half Axel with elect. brakes and designed the tongue where when disconnected I can roll it under the MH with less sticking than a dolly. I use one of the ramps for a track and have a steel caster wheel welded on the bottom of the tongue. I will take a picture of it tomorrow and post. If you are not able to DIY the picture should be enough to have a shop build one. The plus over the dolly is what else can the dolly be used for, vs. now I have a small trailer for what ever.
I would love to see the pictures of the trailer. I have thought about building a dolly, but a nice light trailer would work too. I already have 4 trailers, so what's another one!

Yep. Hitch ball lock, hitch pin lock, chain from one wheel to another. May have slowed `em down. But not enough.

I have an enclosed trailer and wouldn't trade it for the world. We don't have anything in our lineup that can be towed 4 down. Our pusher don't care what is behind it. At almost 65 ft. long we only had one place we had to unhook last year on our Western swing.
