I need suggestions for how to protect my new Smart Car from rock damage while being towed. I will be using a Ready Brute Elite tow bar/breaking system.

Thanks!

We use Protect-A-Tow which is made in Canada. It goes beneath the tow bar and clips to the trailing edge of the motorhome and under the front of the towed car which is a Honda CRV in our case. I've used it for two years and over 30K miles of towing across the US and western Canada. So far, no rock damage that I can see from being towed. I'd say the car is more vulnerable to door dings in the Walmart parking lot. I can hook it up in about a minute and take it off just as fast. I stow it in a milk-type crate in the an aft compartment. I ordered it on-line from the manufacturer in Canada.

The underskirt devices are probably the most effective, but can be some work to put on. We use a "Tow Guard" from Blue Ox, the manufacturer of our tow bar. Most tow bar manufacturers make one to fit so you may what to check with the maker of your tow bar.

Right you are! I ordered one from ReadyBrake to match my ordered towbar.

Thanks!
