Seems like there are getting to be fewer rigs you can tow 4 down over the last few years. But I have not really kept up with it until now that I have a need.
Presently I have a Dakota 4x4 crew cab.
I would like a toad that is somewhat smaller, reasonably light, under 4k, that 4 people can ride in, in reasonable comfort, probably used as I am saving as much as I can for the new MH.
I don't want to have to use transmission pumps or driveshaft couplers.
Would like some suggestions as to rigs to look for. Thanks

I am confused. Are you wanting recommendations for a toad or a MH? To me, the use of the term "rig" implies a RV or MH.

If it's a toad or dingy ... Google Dingy Guide for downloadable guides by year. However, you will want to confirm in the owner's manual if it is actually towable 4 down. And yes the dingy/toads able to be towed 4 down are getting fewer and fewer

Have you done your homework on driveshaft disconnects? I was in the dark on them until recently. I had one installed on my 2010 Tundra and could not be happier. I thought like you and most everyone else that you need a 4x4 that you can shift the transfer case into neutral to flat tow. I am now towing a 4 door 2WD Tundra truck that takes seconds to set up. It's so easy to set up that even a Caveman can do it.

I just bought a 2014 CRV so I could go 4-down instead of using my dolly. But frankly, I'm less and less motivated to invest in the HW. We only tow 4 or 5 times a year and the dolly is fine for that.

Like the CRV anyway. Pity they went to CVT. But like another poster mentioned, with a Driveshaft disconnect, you can tow almost anything 4-Down

Is it true no Toyota products can be towed 4-down? I was trying to get my father to upgrade to the new Tacoma truck, but as far as what the service manager says, Toyota's can't be towed period. Voids the warranty.

I have not checked all years but I think you would be correct without making modifications.

We love our 2013 Honda CRV AWD! These can be towed 4-down through the 2014 models, NOT 2015 and up!

Any Honda CRV up to 2014 and any Chevy Equinox or GMC Terrain from 2011 and above.

I had a 2013 Tacoma, traded it for a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and am happy with it.

Along with it being 4 down towable, think about what you're going to use the toad for.

We've gone 4 wheeling in Arizona, Death Valley and several other places. If it's just to get groceries and tour towns you don't need 4WD.

DW says if we were towing her CRV we would have traded it for a Jeep months ago.

We tow a Ford Edge Limited and so far it has been great.

Approx 4200 lbs

Here are a few toads from the FMCA tow guide on Ford and Chev and as you can see from my sig the Kia Soul in 6 speed standard is towable. I have towed the Vhevy Spark standard, Ford Edge auto, Chevy Equinox, all good toads.
I see the Ford didn't make it I will try again.

We had a Jeep Wrangler that we towed 4 down for many miles, but bought a Jeep Liberty to "accommodate" another golden retriever. We dog lovers know how that goes! Liberty is automatic and a real cinch to tow. My friend has a CRV and is equally satisfied, so either of these two would be a good choice in my opinion.
