I am setting up my '09 Ford Ranger 2WD 5 Speed as a tow vehicle 4 down. I am presently looking at my rear lighting solution. My Ranger has a factory hitch and wiring harness. My question is rather than wire in another set of bulbs in my tail lights, can I wire in diodes in my truck harness and then feed the wiring from my motor home wiring back through the Ranger trailer hitch wiring connector. I would think that as long as the diodes are placed in the truck wiring before the truck trailer hitch wiring this should avoid any power feedback beyond the truck tail lights. What do you think? I just thought this might be a cleaner install using motor home connector directly to truck connector.

Probably not going to work the way your thinking , if your going to run the wires the length of the truck, & then dig into the harness and find the trailer wiring splices,to install the diodes, then hook up the wiring there.
Solder all your connections. Any time you can avoid a plug in connector , do so.
