Question Toads

New member in Arizona. Just purchased a used Monaco La Palma 36SBD
Now trying to figure out a flat tow vehicle. Very confusing. Since wife insists on automatic transmission.
Jeep dealer says Jeep Renagade is flat towable
A blogger says not.
Just saw a video of a jeep being towed that nearly tipped the coach over.
Suggestions anyone

Don't know much about Jeep, but most Ford products of the last couple years are towable four down. We tow an Explorer and it works great.

our wrangler toads well....

Just about ANYTHING could be made 4 down towable with things like driveline disconnects, etc...
just how much work do you want to put into it?

Automatic Renegades, Compasses are not tow-able. Wranglers, Cherokees, and Grand Cherokees are PROVIDING they have the proper transfer-case. You have do your research before you buy!!!

2004 Silverado 2500HD 4X4 Crew Cab. Tows great and provides roomy and comfortable ride. Might even be strong enough to pull our Monaco (with some exceptions of course). And it's an Automatic! Jim E. OKC

Not true unless you are going to custom build the equipment. If you look at the driveline disconnect and tranny pump websites, these mods are applicable only certain car and truck models, and the vast majority of vehicles are not on the list.

Hello Mr. Bull and welcome to the group. A wealth of info on here as well as a wealth of opinions!
The Renegade is not towable in either auto or manual, but the Jeep Compass is. Check out Motorhome magazine, or motorhome.com for listings on compatible toads. They provide great info on current an d past models. Your best approach is research, research, then more research. I'm sure you will find that right toad for you and the DW.
IMHO there are plenty of choices without having to deal with trans pumps, driveline disconnects, etc... Find something that works for both of you where you just hook up and go, Easy peasy...
Good luck and see you down the road!

Welcome to iRV2

We have Toad 2 Honda CR-Vs and like them ('05 & '14) - one of the more popular Toads but has to be 2014 or prior - newer ones not towable,
Jeeps are probably 2nds most popular but I have no experience so will have to rely on others or the published lists that are very comprehensive.

Check out remcoindustries web site. They have an RV/towing page that you type in the year, make, and model and it will give you the information on almost any vehicle if it is flat towable. The same make and model may be towable one year but not another. I used it when selecting my 2003 Jeep Liberty. It will also let you know if you need to add an auxiliary pump.

Welcome to IRV2. We tow a 2003 Dodge Dakota, plenty of space inside and out. So far no worries in 30,000 miles.

We recently purchased a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It has the 4.6L V8. Just had the Neutral Tow Kit installed at the dealership. Transfer case now shifts into neutral smoothly and easily. Looking forward to towing it behind our 2014 Thor Palazzo 33.2. Have previously towed a Jeep Wrangler, Honda Element and Jeep Liberty.
