My wife an I are considering tading our fifth wheel for a class c. The one we are looking at is newer, about 2001 or so with a v-10. I need to know if one can tow a 2001 Yukon Denali behind a class c. I do not have the ability to buy another car, such as a Wrangler, to tow.

I'm not sure. It all depends on the drive train; 2WD or 4WD and whether the 4WD transfer case has a neutral position. Look in the owners manual. The towing procedure will be spelled out if it's towable. I have a Yukon XL and it is towable with all the info in the owners manual.

Your FROG will weigh ~ +5500 lbs, Most class C are not designed to tow that amount of weight without exceeding the GCVW. At best they can tow 5000 lbs but more like 3000 lbs.

Like noted, most class Cs have a 300 to 3500# hitch limit due to the rear frame extensions. A few are rated to 5000#, bit I have never seen one over 5000#. The newer ones on the Kodiak chassis MIGHT be over 5000#, but you need to check.

Most of the gas powered class A's are also limited to 5000#.

You will se a few folks that had a local welding shop "reinforce" the hitch to try and get the rating up. I'd check with the coach manufacturer before I spent the mone on the welding and also, I'd make sure the welder knew exactly what he was doing. I know, my welding abilites are not up to that kind of work.

Thanks for the responses. We bought the Yukon used and it didn't come with an owner's manual so I don't know what it says. I bet I can find that info on GM's web site then.
