Tow Bar

I have a 2011 Sightseer 35J and I have been using a Dolly to pull vehicle would like to go to a Tow Bar. We have a 2011 Chevy Traverse what all do I need to tow vehicle

You will need a base plate for the car, tow bar, light kit, safety cables and a brake system for the toad. You might try contacting Blue Ox and buy the complete package at a better price than buying individual pieces. Roadmaster would be another choice to check. I prefer Blue Ox because the base plate for toad is not that noticeable when not used. They also use a tow bar design the doesn't bind up when trying to disconnect.

Congrats on your new purchases. We just went through the same process with our 2011 Sightseer. Winnebago specs indicate a 5000 lb. tow capacity for Sightseers. Take the curb weight of the Traverse (4790 lbs.), a full tank of gas in the Traverse (135 lbs.), and the weight of the brackets and tow bar and you are at the recommended max. We sold our full size SUV for a lighter version in order to stay well under the recommended max. Hated to lose the roominess of the larger SUV but at least we get better gas mileage with the new toad. After lots of comparing (BluOx, Demco, Roadmaster) we went with Roadmaster. It was more of a dealer choice than product choice. We don't have enough experience with our set-up to list pros or cons at this point. I would check to see which brand lists brackets for specifically your 2011 Traverse. I also liked some of the accessories available for Roadmaster (vinyl covers and the Tow Defender). Remco is the "Guru" of towing. They will spell out everything needed to set your vehicle for towing. I for one have not been a happy camper with Roadmaster. In my case I believe the towbar was poorly engineered but in their defense they have done as much as they could in response to poor performance, which included several replacements.

I will second the Roadmaster products. We installed the Roadmaster XL brackets on our Buick Rendezvous. You don't really notice that they are present. We also purchased the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain tow bar. We are very pleased with Roadmaster.

Blue Ox makes a good system that cannot be seen on the tow car.

Ready Brake Elite works well for us. Very strong rated at 8000lbs.
