I am going with the Blue Ox Alexis towbar and am undecided about thich base plate to use. The Blue Ox bracket weighs about 42 lbs. and, with the weight of the towbar I'm a little concerned about what this weight might do to the front end geometry, tire wear, braking, etc.
The other approach is the Roadmaster brackets, weighing perhaps half or less. I'd then have to get the conversion brackets to connect the Alexis. My toad is a Lexus LX470. Any thoughts?

I have the Blue Ox bracket on my Grand Cherokee. Sure it's heavy, but it's strong and it has those removeable tabs that make the thing invisible when not towing. I've never noticed any front end wear or sag with that little bit of weight. A 20 pound weight savings isn't that significant. Besides, even if it did change your geometery it would be corrected the next time you do a routine front end alignment.

I use the Blue Ox baseplate with the removeable tabs as well....can ya say.... LUV IT!!

When I sold my Journey to my brother I gave him the Aventa II towbar,so I bought the Alexus when I wanted to tow a toad again.....very nice as well.

Couple that with the SMI Silent Partner and we're movin' down the road!
