the hitch supplied by WB is only 5K and the specs only allow for up to 5K towing. Bypassing all that, I went to a professional OTR trailer repair operation and they beefed up my existing hitch. They added a 2.5" by 3.5 inch steel tube welded to the top of the cross member. Then they made a new receiver tube that was gusseted and welded to the cross member plus likewise to the bottom of the Cummins rear motor mount. They told be it was good for a lot more than 10K as finished. I trust that as they tow a HUGE trailer for their Motor sports cars and fix 80K rigs 365.
I pull a 10K box and also have a load distribution hitch package. "I know a lot of people will now say you don't need a distribution hitch with air ride" please don't start that now. I am not the only person doing so and recently (Last week) had a MH (monaco) with the exact setup and trailer park next to me in Chester VA at the walmart. How weird is that. I like he did, find that stability, steering and ride comfort greatly improved and there is no down push over the wooptidoos. also help keep enough weight to the front tires for better steering control.
we pull the box when moving the Caddi, Harley or Jag plus carry all kinds of crap to our FL home.
