Tow Dolly

In the US do you have to register Tow Dolly like a regular trailer? Do you need a Licence Plate on it?

Depends on the State. AND the mood of the officer.

No registration or tag in Georgia. Whatever your state says is good wherever you travel.

In WA the tow dolly needs to be registered and have a license plate if empty, when a car is on it then no license plate/registration is required.
But frankly I don't think the officers care. When we used a dolly I towed it empty with no problems and I see it done all the time here.

I had to get one in Georgia. Only runs about $20 a year. Wasn't any gray area when I checked and have seen many with tags--- and some without

But I wonder if Georgia LEO's really worry much about looking at dolly tags or if they know?

This is right from a George gov site

What Vehicles are Exempt from Registration in Georgia?

Car/Tow Dollies

A 1985 and older year model car/tow dolly, a homemade car/tow dolly and a car/tow dolly weighing 2,000 pounds or less are required to be registered in Georgia but*not*titled in this state.*

Exactly right according to the tag office. No title, just a tag.

I stand corrected. It has been about ten years since I used my tow dolly. Was very glad to get rid of it. It was actually wider than the motorhome. At the time, I was not required to put a tag on it.
