Tow Dolly & TPMS

My wife and I recently purchased a Stehltow tow dolly with surge brakes to tow behind our Dutch Star.

The dolly comes with 13 inch tires. The concern I have is that those tires have rubber valve stems. We also have a TST 507 TPMS system. I am worried that the weight of the TST 507 non-flow thru sensors. Am I overthinking this or should I replace the rubber valve stems with metal ones? I know there are rubber valve stem support clips but those are for 16 inch wheels only.

Yes, replace them with metal stems as recommended in the TST instructions.

I used to have a tow dolly and did use the non flow thru TST 507 sensors with no problem. It is a good idea though to switch over to metal stems. When/if you do make sure the stems are not pointed outwards of the rim because the head of you sensor will be exposed and subject to damage. In the Northeast we have narrow toll booths and with a dolly it can be tight. I have heard of folks ripping off their sensors because they were sticking out to far

Metal stems are an easy swap...

depending on your tow dolly and towed vehicle...you may find the tire pressures are very different between the two. TST allows for only one pressure range for all of the tires on the trailer depiction. My tag axle only has singles...so I wound up putting the tow dolly wheels on the display along with the tag wheel position...both ran 75 psi...our towed vehicle ran 34psi...

Thanks for the feedback. Got the tires off the dolly to take to tire place tomorrow to get rubber exchanged for metal valve stems. Will also try to get angled valve stems to minimize my dolly's overall width to minimize the risk of taking out a sensor.
