Tow set up 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Looking for opinions and advice on outfitting my 2012 Grand Cherokee to be towed

I have the blu ox tow bar already

Jeep GC looks like it only need the base plate (or in this case base "arms")

Any pics of installs? Issues or problems??

What is the best brake system?? Airforceone looks pretty good http://www.smibrake.com/air-force-one.html
Anyone have one? Or a different unit?

Is there a prewired lighting connection under the hood? Or do you need a wiring kit?

I set up mine with a Roadmaster tow bar system because I already had the tow bar. The base plates took most of the day to install and they end up where the front tow hooks are/should be. I selected a RVi brake system as I wanted a portable system. There is no prewireing for the lights. I used a "Plug-N-Tow" wire kit.
It seems to tow well except that there is noticeable front tire wear on the outer edges.
I have towed it about 4000 miles so far.

The "Plug N Tow" name is what it said on the invoice but it should have been "TowDaddy Universal Tail Light Wiring Kit".

It's expensive but makes it easy it hookup.

I have the Blue OX system and a 2012 Jeep GC. So far I have had no problems with the system. My only complaint is the Electrical connection and the emergency break away placement. There is no where on the vehicle in the front that I could put these conntections and still make it all not look out of place. We needed to cut the front grill a little for the electricial conntection and the break away is below the bumper.

I installed all the tow equipment on our new 2012 Jeep GC last summer. Used a Blue Ox Base Plate and a TowDaddy Plug-N-Tow™ Wiring System. Found a #3011 model for $110.00 + $13.17 shipping (total of $123.17) at www.worldofrvparts.com which was by far the best price I could find. Until reading some forum posts I had never heard of a TowDaddy but after researching it some I am a believer. Until then was planning to use the separate bulb and wiring route like I installed on my Wrangler. So far the TowDaddy is working great.

It sure felt funny tearing off the front end of our brand new Jeep just a week after we got it to do the install ... but it turned out great. Here is a photo of "when it looked the worst". At the time I had just finished the drivers side tow hook.

Nice. I'm going to do my 2012 Cherokee Overland soon. Mine has the knockouts for the tow bar (like in your pic) but not in the center for lights?? Can you post a close up of the center or pm me and I'll send you my email

There is nothing in the center for the base plates, what you are seeing in the center is the adaptive cruse control sensor.

Okay. I thought it was the plugin for the lights. It looked good. Where did you mount your light/brake connection.
