Am looking at a 2001 chev s-10 trailblaser as a tow vehicle behind my 08 vectra. Would use a brakebuddy and light package. What do you think and is this the way to go? Any other suggestions using this vehicle?

Check it out at Home | Remco Towing but I believe you will need to add a drive shaft disconnect to tow an S10 Blazer with all 4 wheels on the pavement. If it is a 2WD model, you could probably use a tow dolly as an alternative.

Gary is correct. I have a 2000 S-10 Blazer I considered towing and found I would have to use the driveshaft disconnect. While it is doable, I chose not to deal with it and went another direction.

I had purchased a 2006 Jeep Liberty and had it rigged for towing via Blue Oxe, and B Buddy, etc. at the dealer. Pulling it behind my DP on almost every trip this summer. Love it. My wife loves seeing it in the camera; helped her get used to where to be in the traffic lane. LOL.
I use the Liberty every day at home; takes literally 5 minutes to complete the hookup.

Wife and I just purchased our first MH (less than a week ago) and had the Unified Tow B (vacuum pump system) and Blue Ox bar and base plate installed on the towed vehicle. (All working well, but we don't have anything to compare it to.)

The braking characteristics in the toad when it is disconnected from the MH have been seriously altered. It's as if the power brakes are no longer working. It takes both feet on the brake pedal to safely stop the vehicle. Is that normal? Is there anything that I can do to modify the system to restore normal braking? The tech who installed the system explained that the change was caused by the additional vacuum demand. I've considered installing a vacuum shut-off valve near the tee on the UTB pump side of the line.

Any suggestions?

The Chevy Blazer (also sometimes called the S-10 Blazer) and Trailblazer are 2 separate vehicles.

I think the 4WD Blazer was towable starting in 1999. I can't remember when the Trailblazer was first introduced, but I'm pretty sure all 4WD Trailblazers are Towable 4 down. The key is whether or not the transfer case has a neutral position. If it does, you're good to go.

The tech was full of it. Sounds like you have no vacuum boost. I suspect they either left out the vacuum check valve, or it's defective or incorrectly installed. NO - it shouldn't affect the brakes on the toad - AT ALL.
