tow vehicles

We hope to purchase a 33'/35' Winnebago Adventurer, manufactured year between 2002 and 2005 within the next six months. Can anyone suggest which is the best either Ford or Workhorse also we will need to buy a car to tow, are there any cars that are unsuitable for towing or require modifications.

Winnebago DL

You should check out Motor Home magazine online. They have a section on towable vechiles. Be aware of the issues with brakes on the towed vechicle, as well as the tow bar. Most of this is covered.

I think either Ford or Workhorse chassis are fine. Our gasser was a Ford. I would definitely consider adding a Banks system. Both the Ford and Chev motors have had a history of warped exhaust manifolds. In our case to the point we had to replace a cracked head. The Banks system prevents that problem and improves performance particularly in the mountains and for towing.

Either chassis will get the job done. The Ford needs RPM's to get the job done, the WH has more low end torque.
Personally I like torque rather than RPM's.

Jeep Wranglers I belive require the least amount of mods for towing.

Regarding toad vehicle selection, you can go to this site to check what might be required to get the vehicle prepared as a toad conversion.

We're a fan of the Honda CR-V

Regarding Ford vs. Workhorse, I'm not touching that one....
